Chris, a Director at Linkenheimer LLP in Santa Rosa, California, joined host and Founder of Accounting Voices Rob Brown to discuss how accounting firms can move beyond the hype surrounding AI and focus on practical implementation that benefits clients, their people, and the accounting sector.

During the interview, Chris shared his perspective on AI’s evolving role in the profession, highlighting that its greatest value lies not simply in automation, but in enabling professionals to focus on higher-value work that requires judgement, critical thinking, and stronger client relationships. He also explored how AI has the potential to level the playing field between firms of all sizes, allowing independent firms to compete through innovation, agility, and culture rather than scale alone.

Discussing the evolving role of AI in accounting, Chris said:

"The real opportunity with AI isn't simply to do more work faster. It's about giving professionals back the time to think more strategically, build stronger client relationships and create healthier, more sustainable careers. The firms that succeed won't necessarily be those with the biggest technology budgets, but those that use AI to strengthen their people and culture."

The appearance reinforces AGA's commitment to helping professionals across its independent accounting and law firms in more than 100 countries understand and embrace AI responsibly through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and practical guidance. AGA's AI Focus Group, established as part of its Strategy 2030 programme, brings together legal and accounting professionals from around the world to share best practice and explore the future of AI in professional services.

Giles Brake, Global CEO of Alliott Global Alliance, added:

“Rob Brown’s podcast is an important platform for honest, practical discussion about how firms are responding to AI, and Chris was a natural contributor. His participation reflects the leadership we want AGA to bring to the profession: helping mid-sized firms adopt AI with confidence, learn from real-world experience and avoid being left behind.
AI is transforming professional services, but successful adoption will depend on strong leadership, collaboration and shared learning. Through AGA, our member firms can draw on the experience of experts such as Chris rather than having to navigate that change alone.”
