Litigation lawyer Boris Pahn explains the story behind audalis' successful business breakfast:

"A couple of years ago we noticed that our clients stopped turning up to the evening events we were holding.

Over drinks and canopés we would have external speakers come and provide useful non-legal, non-tax related information. Speakers ranged from bankers discussing “How does my bank see my business? and IT specialists speaking on “How to prevent a cyber attack”, to the police commenting on “Is giving away a pencil to a public servant already corruption”?.

However, attendance was diminishing and we discerned that there had been a shift in the habits of our business clients: They no longer wanted to see their advisors in the evening, they wanted to be with their families and friends.

So somebody came up with the idea to change it to early morning and this was a success. Our business clients now simply skip their breakfast at home, come to us for our business breakfast and still turn up in their office around 10 a.m. at latest having “lost” only 1 to 2 hours of their working day."

The winning formula

The audalis business breakfast is now held twice per year, once in spring and once in autumn, in the firm's conference room and usually attracts between 20 and 30 clients. It starts at 8.30 in the morning and lasts just an hour, beginning with networking between audalis advisors and clients over continental breakfast, followed by a short presentation of no more than 20-30 minutes.

The theme of the latest "Frühstart" was unprotected business data. Author, political advisor, editor of Netzpolitik.org and honorary speaker of the Chaos Computer Club, Mrs. Constance Kurz, gave a presentation on the current threats to IT security being faced in this time of growing cybercrime.
