Ak Attorney Partnership Strengthens Team with New Partner Appointment

This development marks an important step in the firm’s recent rebranding and reflects its continued focus on strengthening its corporate, finance, and transactional capabilities. Operating from the same office with its established team, AKAP enters this new phase with an expanded partnership structure and a renewed identity.

Emre Subaşı brings extensive experience in capital markets, finance law, cryptocurrency exchanges, and venture capital investments. Following the completion of his legal internship and early-stage practice, he served for five years as Legal Counsel at the Capital Markets Board of Turkey (CMB), where he contributed to both the Legal Affairs and Corporate Finance Departments.

In 2019, he joined the founding team of the Turkish Mercantile Exchange (TMEX), Turkey’s first and only national electronic commodity exchange, where he held the position of Chief Legal Counsel for nearly three years. He later joined one of Istanbul’s leading law firms, where he led the Venture Capital Department, advising on high-value investments and emerging market transactions.

Emre subsequently joined AKAP as a Partner and currently also serves as Chief Legal Counsel to a high-growth start-up, further enhancing his practical insight into dynamic and fast-scaling business environments.

His expertise and leadership have been recognised internationally; he was named a ‘Key Lawyer’ and ‘Practice Head’ by The Legal 500 in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Emre holds an LL.B. from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law, an LL.M. from Hacettepe University, and an MSc from Trinity College Dublin. He is fluent in Turkish and English.
