Biography
Oskar is a seasoned dispute resolution lawyer with extensive experience in international arbitration, litigation, and mediation. He has particular experience from disputes relating to mergers and acquisitions, breaches of commercial contracts, energy, oil & gas, infrastructure, construction, engineering, joint ventures, licensing, telecommunications, D&O liability, product liability, and complex commercial disputes.
Oskar acts as counsel in commercial disputes conducted under the auspices of most leading institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Finnish Arbitration Institute (FAI) and the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), as well as in ad hoc proceedings under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. In addition, Oskar acts as an arbitrator and as a mediator in commercial disputes.
As well as representing clients in dispute resolution processes, Oskar provides strategic advice, assisting clients in managing, and minimising, risks in their commercial contracts, corporate transactions and construction and oil & gas projects. Oskar also has notable experience from corporate advisory, start-up/growth funding, technology projects, licensing and capital markets transactions and he often collaborates with lawyers from the firm's other practice areas in multidisciplinary teams.
While not specializing exclusively on any single sector, Oskar frequently represents clients in energy, oil & gas, heavy industry, financial services, technology, venture capital and private equity sectors.
Oskar also teaches international arbitration as an adjunct lecturer of law currently at the University of Lapland and University of Eastern Finland. He frequently speaks and writes on topics related to international arbitration and dispute resolution.
Prior to joining Byro, Oskar worked as a Co-Head of Dispute Resolution at Dottir, as Senior Associate at Roschier and as Visiting International Arbitration Counsel at General Electric.
